The project is starting to evolve. The more I interview individuals the more I realise that the location of where the item in questioned is stored is insignificant. The initial title of the project was Lofts, Garages and Basement: Treasure and Tat. The title of the work now is Treasure and Tat.
The objects and stories that I seem most interested in are the ones that have more sentimental value. I have therefore realised that the project is an investigation in to nostalgia, and how we attach memories to individual items.
When interviewing the different volunteers I can quit easily recognise which stories are more heart felt. The interviewees become more animated. There is a far off look in their eyes and an excitement in their voice, as if they are reliving that memory.
